An interesting IMZ - Now GMZ?

Post by DanKearney » Mon Aug 03, 2015 2:20 am

I found this bike in a vintage motorcycle museum in Vorchdorf, Austria a few days ago. I've never seen nor heard of this model before. It is a 350cc supercharged bike.

translation:
Displacement 349cm
Potential: unknown, about 40 hp

This motorcycle was copied by IMZ using the sample of the BMW R51 RS compressor, when the parts had been confiscated by the soviet occupation army (Eisenach = later EMW) Accourding to the former owner she had been used for racing from 1948 to 1967.
Transport via detours from USSR to Czech Rep (formerly Czechoslovakian Rep) to Poland and from there dismantled in parts to Germany.

Only problem is....... It isn't an IMZ and Ural has no connection with the M35 model series at all

Did some Googling after reading dneprlover's post. Found this:

I think I'll pass it along to the museum.

Very cool looking old bike and don't know zip about it but dayum a lightweight blown 350 would be an absolute blast to flog through the danger zone.
