Keep the bike running.

You guys NEED to w@$# that stuff off. It's not just mud. It's calcium chloride (SALT) and it's now in every single possible place of the Ural that it can be. It'll start rusting that thing quickly.KB5UGN wrote:I know some people may think it blasphemous, but w@$# that stuff off earliest. That stuff was on my '98 GS for years.
it was pretty intense and I have to admit I didn't even stop when we saw another bear yesterday! it was so close that kristen didn't even want me to slow down...mapperjay wrote:Wow. Do you know the warning signs if a bear is getting pi$$ed? That second or third photo shows one them!
Keep the bike running.
we definitely are going to be a bit more conservative now - it was a bit more action than kristen was looking for. thanks!okmac wrote:Fantastic journey and commentary . Great pictures , you two will remember this journey forever. Great bear pictures, next time be a little more careful tho, they are wild and unpredictable.

haha - yeah, we finally started heading home and we both came to the realization that we have to come all the way back to texas. wow, that's a long way...Mud Pie wrote:Great write up, excellent pics !!![]()

Now... are you riding back home to S.A., or are you selling the rig and flying ??![]()
If riding, make sure you take a different route and continue the commentary and pics !!
maybe so, maybe so... we have been talking about going to see some family on the east coast so maybe we'll head south a bit...mbspyder wrote:Congratulations!!!![]()
WoW...What a great trip! Love the pics! Keep us posted on the return home. Your next trip should be to the Florida Keys.
no kidding, man. our return trip was pretty awful, to be honest. horrible weather but snow was coming and we had to brave it. i would do it again for sure, but i think kristen might have some reservations!pidgey wrote:Awesome pics guys, great that you made it.![]()
Looks like you hit a lot of rain. That's down to the time of the year I guess.
We had it dry, dusty and smoky from fires in Alaska on the way up.
The return trip had intermittent rain, turning the road into a quagmire much like you guys experienced. I even had to w@$# the rig at the campground back in Dawson![]()
Would I do the trip again? Damn straight!
