BURP 2019

Post by DneprTim » Tue May 14, 2019 10:13 pm

The 2019 BURP rally will be held July 12-14 at the beautiful Willville Motorcycle Campground located less than a mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway near Meadows of Dan, Virginia.

Anyone interested in camping during the rally should register with Will Beers through the Willville Campground website or by calling 276.952.CAMP. The campground is for motorcycles and motorcycle towed trailers only, but if you trailer your rig, there is a parking area where you can park your car or truck w/trailer away from the camping area. There are several motels nearby, also some B&B’s if you do not camp.

Friday night dinner will be Pizza at the Campground.
Dinner will be provided Saturday night by your Rally Hosts at the camp pavilion.

Come play on the Parkway !

Ideally located less than one mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Willville is set in an area that offers some of the best roads and scenery for the ultimate motorcycling experience.
The secluded campground sits within a 26 acre wooded park providing privacy from the main road while still offering easy access. The campground is designed for motorcycle traffic only, however, there is ample parking outside the campground (within the park) for those who wish to trailer their motorcycles.

I'm in. One, tent camping, unless I can talk the missus into joining me for her first rally. If she joins in on the fun, we'll be "motelling" it.

I'm in. Just me unless Donna feels like sleeping in the van. Have to see how that goes. ;-)

Woo Hoo! Paying my property taxes tomorrow! The rest of the year I'll be working for myself instead of the government!

Will requires reservations now? When I camped there, he had a laissez-faire policy of allowing the rider to set up his tent, then paying.

I'd love to BURP, but it's a six hour tow each way (and longer than six if I obey the posted limits, which maybe wasn't the case on that rocket Kawasaki.)

I hope your thoughts lead to attendance.

While the C.R.A.P. is fun for the potluck, games, and large turnout, I've got a sweet spot for the B.U.R.P., with the Blue Ridge Parkway and Willville.

The BRP, at least in the vicinity of Willville, does seem custom tailored for the mission brief of the Ural. Keeping the reins tight on the big Versys was actually a bit frustrating.

I am thinking, Chad. :)

DneprTim -- any clarity you can provide on the necessity of reservations, or not, for BURP will be appreciated. TIA. I called the campground, but went straight to voicemail.

There IS something about Willville at 11 at night as you see the milky way shine above the trees! That is worth staying up for! 6 hour drive for me, but I love it!

By the way, how come we don't rate a mention in the 'What's Happening' section of the Willville website? Is he embarrassed by us...? :o
