2019 and above wrenching thread...
I'll go ahead and ask, due to the changes, is there going to be a split like when Ural went from carbs to what is now 1st Gen EFI?
So we have pre 2014, 2014 to 2018 and then a 2019 and above section?

Re: 2019 and above wrenching thread...
Good grief... has it come to that? Maybe I need to roll it all back into one big section again. A couple years ago I split off the section for the newer models as it was getting a little cluttered and us old-timers with real many rigs weren't able to answer EFI and 3-wheel disc brake questions. Damn, we need an Ouija board to fix these things now....

Well, I've checked here a few times now and so far there seems to be no issues or problems with the 2019's.
Way to go IMZ.

Re: 2019 and above wrenching thread...
Well, there is one major serious issue with the 2019 so far... I'm sitting here surrounded by no 2019 Urals. I even double checked, nope, not a one sitting in my shop or even outside.
What do you mean I have to order and PAY for one? Dang it, 2, TWO major 2019 Ural issues now.

It's the different EFI system for one thing that sets 2019+ apart. Easily going to get situations where peeps are talking about the EFI, and get confused which version is it.

I'd wait for another year to see what 2020 will bring in term of changes
It was so simple and good before, and now ... 650, 750, pre 2002, drum, disk, 2006, 2013, EFI, jets, commander, maps, schmaps, new bolts and nuts. Buckle-up and seat tide, the fun is just began!

Re: 2019 and above wrenching thread...
Do we differentiate between a 650cc and 750cc engine? When folks put in their signature block the year of the rig, most people should be able to figure out if it’s a 2019 or older.

Re: 2019 and above wrenching thread...
John - Since all the year models from 2003-2019 have more in common than not, maybe another way would be to organize around technical sections rather than years. "Fuel Injection" and "DIsc Brakes" take care of the major differences, for example. Doesn't have to get way too specific down to "Spokes" or whatever, but EFI folks can go look for EFI problems there, and all the disc brakes from 2003 on can go to that section for their problems.
Engine, FD, gearboxes have slight differences, but just as we don't separate Herzog from pre-Herzog just leave them in the same section.
650's might be worthy of their own wrench section, too.
Only a suggestion -

Re: 2019 and above wrenching thread...
I too think it is a good thought. Even engines with changes will have a lot in common and that could be broken down into sub section of 2003 to- 2018 or just noted its a 2019 when discussion as the bottom end is the same.

Re: 2019 and above wrenching thread...
Let's not do that. Most of the bike is the same. EFI and heads different, but you're not gonna work on that. Your maintenance is the same, the $#!+ the breaks will be the same. The difference is the EFI systems and if that breaks are we really gonna fix that without just replacing parts? Expensive parts? Hideously expensive parts... Keihen don't need no stinking maps, 14-18 ElectroJet era are the ones that can be fiddled with fuel maps and such wizadry (imagine all the holed pistons) and I am willing to bet many of those will find Keihen EFI systems eventually anyway, or carbs. Do I have a stake in this? Watch and see...
