why do messages hang in my outbox not sent

why do messages hang in my outbox not sent

Sometimes when I try to send an outgoing private message, instead of showing in "Sent items" (after I hit send) it shows up in "outbox" which makes it seem like it didn't send properly. Why does it do this and what can I do to try to force them to send successfully? I did check my folders and none of them are at or very near 100% Thanks

They stay there until they are read, then they go to your sent folder.
I have a funny wife. Hilarious, really.
