If you are having a problem with the forums, try clicking on the "FAQ" link at the top of the page first. If that doesn't work, stop in here for help. Suggestions for site improvement are welcomed. For the love of Lennin, if you have a tech question about your rig, put it in "The Order of the Greasy Wrench" section below, not here.

Since YouTube recenty changed their video sharing links to "youtu.be" type links, I added a new way to embed YouTube videos into your posts to use those links. Here's a video explaining how:
Is there a video "host" site less publicly available than YouTube that one could use to post a video here on 'Steeds so as to not draw as much attention from a broader public to a ride/ area that would probably go away if it became widely known and used? Thanks

John, I'm not sure what the above means but I may be asking the same question, can't I just imbed a video directly from my computer? Do I have to go thru youtube or some other 3rd party site?

Yes. I believe you have to go through a 3rd party host. Maybe in the future we can upgrade to do it directly?

Wex,
The forums site and it's server is not geared for processing video, nor do we have the storage capacity (videos take up a lot of disc space) to handle it. YouTube is the way to go, its designed for video, it's free, and you can easily embed or link to them with our forums.

Thanks John, I understand. I just didn't know if the way you guys had set up the picture upload could be applied to video since it took me forever to learn how to do that. I'll watch your tutorial in the beginning of this post and then have my 15 year old explain it to me.
Thanks for all the hard work on the SS site.
I understand the reasons why this Board can't actually store immense video files.
My concern with Youtube is that it raises the profile of things, and this ride that I would like to post a video of here on the Board, for members only, is a ride that would be highly likely to go away/ be closed off- if it gained attention from the world at large- so Youtube is not a place that I want to "advertise" this route/ ride.
I'm not very video-world savvy, but what I am asking is whether there is some site, less high-profile than Youtube, that can accomplish the same function; I am hoping that someone who is more familiar with options can point me in the right direction for that.
Thanks!

Just don't disclose the location in the YouTube video. Then how would anybody know?
