Uploading Avatars

Howdy John,

How come I can't get my aviator to load on this site. I have tried to post the URL from my smugmug web page but it doesn't show up, what am I doing wrong? Please explain this in language a computer idiot can understand, thank you.

The image needs to be a max. size of 100 pixels x 100 pixels and not more than 30K. Ya need to shrink it if it is larger than that.

If ya need help with it, e-mail me your avatar, and I'll resize it and upload it for you.

This goes for anybody who needs an avatar resized. I'll be glad to do it for ya, just e-mail it to me and be sure to let me know your handle or username here.

Another tip. If it too high Kb as a JPG image, resave the same pic, as a GIF - GIF files are much smaller than the standard JPG, and for an avatar, work fine. ROEN's avatar in JPG form was 69 Kb - too large.. Saved it as a GIF and it shrank to about 8Kb.

Mr. Cob, we aviators are a fickle bunch and it is often hard to determine the proper combination of incentives. Cool planes, girls and booze is a start - minoga bobki ($$) never hurts.

Yeah, Photobucket screwed us with new fees for hosting pics.

In the early days of the forums to keep storage and bandwidth costs down, the avatars were uploaded to a Photobucket account.

I went back and reloaded all of the oldtimers avatars, it should all be good now.

You can open any pic you have in "Paint" if Windows machine and then manually set the pixel size to 100x100. Then save and load it.
