What's wrong with my Ural

Post by Revtech100 » Sat Apr 15, 2017 8:34 pm

We just moved from Anchorage, AK which was sea level to st George Utah at 3,000'. I figured I'd have jetting issues. The jets are stock. Finally got a chance to ride. It's about 70 degrees. I started it with no issues. Let it warm up a few minutes. It didn't burp or pop. I took off down the road. Got up to speeds of 55 or so. Here's the weirdest part. It ran without hesitation. No pops or burps. No hesitation. Idle was fine. Never died. Just ran and ran. So my question is what's broken? It's not supposed to do this! Should I fix it now or see how long until it goes back to normal? Should I replace the flux capacitor?

Flux capacitor should self adjust to altitude change, the blinker fluid however will require a replacement, need thinner fluid above 1000' feet

Do they sell that locally or is it an import item?

I only buy American made blinker fluid, the imports lack quality.

No re-jetting needed. Auto and motorcycle industry standards for jetting/tune for "sea level" is 0-6,000ft. Stock carb jetting is usually on the lean side from the factory for EPA compliance. Most sea level owners generally go up a size on the jets but if you're stock being at 3,000 is probably near perfect. Vroom vroom. :)

the cv design compensates for altitude to an extent, and you went the right direction altitude wise. Heck, if it runs nice don't worry about it.

I make my own home made brew of blinker fluid 100 proof. But the Russian brand Stolichnaya is just as good.

You may want to consider re-calibrating the headlight valve, and re-set the exhaust bearing to the 'Off' position.

Easy one, your bike was made in Siberia, your are in Alaska. Your bike is just happy with the climate, that is all it is. This summer it will probably get back to normal until it gets cold again...it will be ok...

I blame climate change and Bush's first cousin's uncle's roommate who had a Russian dog. It's either that or the seat foam needs to be replaced, I'm sure of it.

Just remember that synthetic blinker fluid contains Viagra, if it blinks longer than 4 hours call Redmond IMZ.
