The perch ring is for the carb to branch tube connection.

Have you checked your valve adjustments and ign timing? When the carb became dislodged did it backfire through the carb? If the ign fires with the intake valve open you can get a large enough backfire to blow the carb clean off the bike.

I had that same problem. Turns out the compliance fitting was warped and distorted from heat. replaced them and all is well

When I took off the valve cover, the rocker arm (?) toward the front of the bike is cracked.

You sure that's a crack and not a casting mark? It's on the wrong side of the digestive tract to blow your carb off.

Definitely a crack. Just spitballing here but perhaps its making it backfire and that's blowing off the carb? I could be wrong though that's happened on one or two occasions

Ordered the new rocker arm from Terry at Crawford sales and its on its way. While I have the valve cover off I'll check the valves.

Thanks again for all the advice!

Got the new rocker arm and installed it and everything seems good!

Now I have to work on re-attaching the sidecar. First time I've had it off so I want to go slow and make sure it's right. TIme to search the forums

Hopefully I'll be riding by the weekend! Thanks so much for all the advice and support!
