New FDs don't come with bent over taps.
Taps are NO longer available .
Lock taps are one time use, not wise to re use them

From what I have seen and experienced the usual failure mode in the FD is the bolt heads shearing off and leaving the threaded stud loctited in the ring gear. Torquing the 10.9 bolts to 24 lb./ft. will stretch and preload the shank and prevent it from moving and developing a fracture under the bolt head.

Yes, from experience. I would not make a statement like that without direct experience. I have seen this on 2 other bikes as well.
Bolts stretch and loosen.
On 1WD models, (if you check the fluid level often) you will notice the fluid has become silvery. If you attend to the issue at that moment, you will find the fold-over tabs have failed and the bolt heads are rubbing against the outer case. The aluminum particles make the final drive fluid silvery.
Attending to this early, avoids catastrophe.
BTW - these tabs are still available from overseas suppliers.

+1.
Never saw bolts back out, only heads shear off

Good to know that makes the advice more valuable.
Thanks, John
