K68 & K65

Post by ReCycled » Fri Jan 02, 2015 6:42 pm

I seem to recall someone finding a source a source for tiny Viton washers that could be used on the float valve. Does anyone remember where the source of these might be found?

TIA

Is this it?

QUOTE-I think "john" over on the Soviet Steeds board posted this:
"I know on my K65's that the "O" ring on the tip of the needle jet only breaks down when subjected to only one element........GAS. If this is the case you either need to replace the "O"ring or get another needle jet (there is an aftermarket jet that works great and does not have an "O" ring at the top). You can find them at any good small engine or lawnmower shop. They are for a Kohler engine and the part number is 12 757 01-s. That is if your float is adjusted correctly. " end QUOTE

A vote here for the Kohler ( pn.127501-s) or the Walbro ( pn.82-85-7) equivalent. I changed over to them on the recommendations of racepres on RI and have never regretted it.

I tried using the Kohler float valves but unfortunately my skills, or rather, finesse with the small metal tab on the side of the float bowl was way beyond my ability and most importantly, patience. I wish I would have figured it out, but after breaking two float bowls I gave up and went with the original o-ring ordered from Arbalet Ukraine. Been working for six months now and no problems, I'm sure I will have to drop the bowls once a year to replace due to ethanol in the gas.. oh well.

Be careful about recommending Alenka (Arbalet Ukraine), She has screwed quite a few people on here and it WILL happen to you eventually

On what bike? your sig shows a 2011 Ural. Setting up does need a little care and patience , along with a pair of very fine needle nosed pliars

Is there a write-up anywhere about how to set up the floats when using the replacement float needles, or is the procedure the same as using the stock float needles?

Dneprlover, I've also got an MT16, you have been a great help in getting that bike working through other threads. Guess I should add that to my signature for credibility.

Walbro needles work great on the K65's on my 91 650 Ural. I got them from a garden machinery place here in England for about £7 delivered. rowenamotors@yahoo.co.uk

The float valve O-rings on my K-68's went about six months apart from each other. I replaced both of them with the O-rings in a Bic lighter. They have lasted longer than the originals...

I just bought a new pair of K68s for my rebuild. The new floats look very similar to the Kholer part KH12-757-01-S

I'm guessing my old float needle is missing the "O" ring?
