Dnepr gearbox photographed strip and rebuild

Post by Obo Scribe » Sun May 26, 2013 7:31 pm

A photographic guide to dismantling and rebuilding a Dnepr gearbox. I could only find copies of pencil drawings from manuals on the internet, so I took photographs as I stripped and rebuilt a spare gearbox I have. It may help someone, someday. I'm no mechanic, so if I can do it, you can.

It is on my blogsite, click on this link. http://boristhednepr.blogspot.co.uk/

Hi so how do I access the gearbox strip and rebuild. My problem is I replaced the kick start quadrant and gear and kick start spring. I tensioned it by turning the piece in the bell housing. But the kick start shaft moves outwards towards the kick start and releases the tension. What stops this happening please.

I don't know if you own a Ural or Dnepr, or what year of either, but you may find this video helpful in solving your issue: https://youtu.be/tSUv9YFxxuM

I suggest you list the year, make, and model of your motorcycle in your signature line, in order to give readers of your posts context about your writings. Please feel free to include your location, as well, since you never know what assistance is available right around the corner from you.

If your gearbox is an MT804 type?

Sounds like you have left the spacer MT804594 out of the box during the rebuild
