Want to buy Valve cover for 750 GU

Post by Bigbikerrick » Mon Aug 30, 2021 1:24 pm

Hello Folks, I am interested in buying a used valve cover to fit my 2012 Ural. I want to do an experiment with a different crankcase breather setup, on my bike. If anyone has an un needed valve cover laying around collecting dust, I am interested.
Please email bigbikerrick@hotmail.com
Thanks

Gene at Holopaw had a few last year. I bought the cheapest one.

Yeah, the seller notes it has some scratches, but 'deep gouges' is a more accurate description.
It may be cracked at the web near the mounting hole, look closely at the interior picture.
It might be a 40 dollar bummer, keep looking.

Also, if the scratches aren't enough of a red flag, the seller has negative reviews for his Ural parts sales. Recommend hard pass.

Only paid Gene $20 for mine. It had deep scratches on the underside where you don't normally see. It was the worst one he had. Better ones cost more. Put on the sidecar side no one will see the scratches.

Thanks ,Guys for the heads up, on the details of that flea bay cover. I had not noticed the crack. Good eye! I think I will keep looking for one in better shape. I want to do an experiment installing a Rexx Bunn crankcase breather set up on my GU. I need to drill and tap a hole somewhere near the top of the cover to hook up one of the breather lines. I dont want to damage my original cover just in case it doesnt work out.
Thanks again, guys, for keeping your eyes open for me!
Rick.

there is little oil flow to the rocker cover, if you put a suction there, it might retard oil flowing back to the sump. Just a thought.

Thank you, Treebone. I will keep that in mind. From what I can tell, oil flow back to the sump, is passive, through the drain hole in the bottom part of the cylinder head. It looks like its designed to maintain a "puddle" of oil in the bottom of each valve cover due to the placement of the drainback hole.

From my FWIW Department:

1977 Moto Guzzi 850 rocker cover. Note hose coming off the top left. It is a rocker cover breather that is connected to the crankcase breathing system.

Moto Guzzi has a breather box that receives hoses from both rocker covers and the top of the crankcase. The box has a 4th opening that vents into a chamber common to both carbs. There are no other crankcase vents beyond the 3 already mentioned.

On the 850 it is all free flow. The 1,100 is similar with the exception that there is a one way ball check valve in the crankcase vent that only allows the crankcase bung to exhale.
