I got the new starter installed and will tinker with some other stuff this week.
I'll load up Friday night so I can leave early and get to the staging area about 9am.

The forecast right now is for some rain.
Dress warm and have a waterproof layer.
Extra gloves and socks don't hurt.

We rarely get a complete rain out.
Don't let that discourage anyone.
The partly sunny weather on Sunday may arrive a little sooner or the rain might show up later Saturday.

And rainy rides are fun rides.
The last time it rained on the New Year Ride we crossed this old RR bridge...

And got to practice recovery skills...

Note spare dry gear in plastic bags bungeed to rack...

My friend Scotty was doing a New Years Ride yesterday on his Husky 701. Both Wharton & Brendan Bryne. Had a ball. The waterholes were extreme after almost 24 hours of rain on NYE. I can't wait. Installing a new Garmin Montana right now which I'll barely be able to use by Saturday.

Here's one (1) minute of his ride or should I say "cruise":

Well I may be scrapped for this ride. I'm throwing mil code 332..was puddle jumping and just like before bike wont start... drying out the ECU but even if I get it running I'm hesitant to get it wet again until I can hopefully narrow down why the right ECU is getting moisture inside.

Weather forecast is for rain all day Saturday, heavy at times. Is there a rain date or is this a ride regardless?

See original posting:

"This is a "rain, snow or shine" ride, so dress appropriately."
Too, too bad no snow. But besides the rain it's also supposed to be almost 50 degrees. Crazy!

I'm relegated to just 3-4 hours of riding having to get home to take may daughter to the airport to go back to college later that evening.

Trich911, I have no idea what "mil code 332" means but if you can't figure out what's going on with your rig by Friday you are certainly welcome to come ride monkey with me. I did the same at the last Spring's Jersey Devil Hunt riding in Chumster's rig and it's really quite a different experience as a passenger than as a pilot. Really my first time.

I also plan to be at the parking lot at Pakim Pond around 9:00am to unload and get ready. Drive you car down and just park it there.

I've seen your rig running quite well under-water. Was really impressed (I'm not kidding).
Hope to see you for a few hours.

Date Change! PLEASE READ!Given that Saturday is expected to be a rain out and Sunday clear and warm, the first ever rescheduling of a NJ Pines Ural event is being made.

All of the above applies except now it is Sunday January 6th!

Hope this works for people!

Wex... may take you up on the monkey ride... I appreciate it.
332 not in my manual but a search yielded "moisture in ecu"
Still sorting it out hoping the code doesn't really mean $750 out of pocket :)

So I just read up on that 332 code. Sounds like a few people with 2015's had it fixed under warranty. You may want to try your dealer, it's worth a shot. It might be a known issue that they will cover to avoid bad karma with the public.

Excellent. I'll PM you on Saturday. May meet-up with a buddy at a diner earlier if you want to join.
Silver Dollar and the regular joints by Wharton seem too far away. Is there someplace closer Rich/Dave/Jay?
If not I'll bring a box of coffee and a dozen Dunkin Donuts to The Pond.
Thing is everybody will have to eat 2 of them so there goes any hope of success regarding New Years Resolutions.

Wex, if it's a diner you want the Vincentown is the closest and near TRich anyway.

Remember we will be arriving at Pakim Pond 9-ish and leave by 10am so get breakfast early.

OK.
Looks like Vincentown Diner is only 12 miles away from Pakim Pond so do-able.
After 2.5 hours riding down to meet you guys my stomach needs pancakes, bacons and eggs before getting lost in the woods.
I'm going to try and get to the diner by 8:00am. If I'm running late I'll bail and go straight to the Pakim Pond parking lot.
Anyone else want to join...

Sunday's weather still looking like an early Spring day (instead of Winter) in the high 40's/low 50's and SUN.
Crazy off-road riding opportunity in January.
