That mechanical wonders of yesteryear thing (on RT 7 in CT near the NY border) I posted about is this weekend. I will be headed there tomorrow, driving straight from work in the morning, because my work schedule conflicts with the other days even worse.

http://www.ctamachinery.com/2012-fall-festival/

DATES: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, September 26, 27, 28, 2014 (Three days)

HOURS: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day for spectators.

UPDATE

Went there yesterday. Found many sellers of old tools, some dating to the wooden mallet and blacksmith era, many from the skilled machinist gauges and calipers toolbox, a lot of often well used power tools, piles of wood planes (apparently a collecter's item), and plenty of parts of damn near anything older and rusty. Many of thier static displays and the ones people trucked and trailered in were intermittently in operation. Many hit or miss engines, some steam tractors, a steam powered dynomo (spent many decades as backup generator at a state facility) and a truly monsterous built-into-the-building steam engine (still "only" 150 HP) were running. The mosquitoes seemed to disappear as the haze of steam/boiler smoke/exhaust engulfed the land.
Still like Charlie Chaplin's 1940 talkie "The Great Dictator"; had to abandon it as the inspiration for the theme of my Ural's paint scheme. People can't seem to tell satire from support. Too much public education.

Hello CT Ural Riders,

Any interest in a get together?

Believe there was one last May at O'Rourke's Diner in Middletown.

How about a repeat? Thinking Sunday May 17.

Sunday May 17th, sounds good to me, Maurice! There are a lot of local URal riders here, in Connecticut! I have seen a few driving around, but have never met them! We just need to organize some rides/meet and greets, so we can all get together, and have a great time!

I'd be interested. Love driving my Ural. Lots of nice rides throughout the state. It would be nice to meet and drive with fellow riders. I'm in Bridgeport but anyplace is fine.

Are you still thinking of meeting in Middletown?

Middletown makes sense. There's three from upper Fairfield County and one from New London.
