I always have one of those little swiss army knives with the scissors/nail file/knife/toothpick in my pocket, along with keys wallet lighter cigs and cashish. And my wireless telecommunication device.
Depending on where I'm going, I may have one of my knives with me- either a real nice italian switchblade (black) during the winter months or a slightly shorter, beefier mexican switchblade (white) for summertime gatherings or a MicroTech out-the-front in olive drab for business purposes.
If I'm going to some to some of the shadier spots in/around Atlanta I carry a Bersa 380, holopoints, with one in the chamber (7+1), concealed. Along with a knife suitable for the day's purpose.
When strangers come to my house to buy my Xterra or my old van, I open carry the Bersa with two extra 8 round mags...you know, in case the bidding gets "spirited".
Why not a 9mm or .40 cal? I just want to hurt the perp real bad and not kill him. I can probably empty 8 rounds into him with the 380 and he has a fair chance of pulling through. You know, make him think about the errors of his ways as he goes forward in life. Give him a chance at redemption sort of thing. I would prefer a Nagen style baseball bat, but they frown on that when you're walking around WalMart...
Back in Jersey, having a gun was not allowed for the most part. That's when you got a Saturday Night Special revolver off a friend so if you have to use it, you're not ejecting evidence all over the crime scene...
...that's just how I roll.
