Godless.

Just 7 episodes on Netflix.

It's a western soap opera with you know, normal stuff, like gun fights and lesbians.

I’ll back up Roni... Doc Martin is addictive... can’t really place my finger on exactly why... it’s kinda like the proverbial train wreck (albeit a good train wreck)... you just can’t wait to see what’s next outta the bag...

The writers are very good at leading you down one story path where you are absolutely sure you’ve figured out the story line then turning things around and come at you from left field...

I strongly recommend Longmire! The series is a great reflection of the book series by Craig Johnson. Such a great series. And as a guilty pleasure, Sons of Anarchy!

So, for those of you old enough to have read Archie comic books, "Riverdale" on Netflix has been surprisingly better than I would have expected. It's not the sappy teenage pap peddled in the comic books, but an updated, dark version where many of the characters are only like the comic book in name.

More importantly, it revives the age old teenage boys' debate, "Betty or Veronica?"

And it's got Michelle Dockery in it too boot. She's the utterly shameless closeted slut Mary Grantham in Downton Abbey. Her other vehicle this year is "Good Behavior", which The Missus truly enjoys.

SoA was such a great show, especially the first 2-3 seasons. What's not to like about it? It's got motorcycle gangs, gun runners, drug dealers, murderers, prostitution, official corruption. And those are the good guys.

The Hateful Eight.

2 hours and 45 minutes....so have some time set aside for this one.

Kurt Russell, Bruce Dern, and Samuel Jackson.

Set a few years after the Civil War, eight mostly shady people who don't like each other end up stuck in a Wyoming blizzard. It is divided into chapters and the movie inches along fairly slowly, with some odd twists.

But it will keep your interest if you like suspenseful westerns. Best to enjoy this one on a big, wide screen.

Gritty, with blood spilled often. And the N-word.

You have been warned.

BUMP!

After a long break in the postings here, I have another video series I found that I really enjoyed...but this one is on Youtube.

Star Trek fan films are a mixed bag, usually full of mediocre acting ability and cheesy green-screen effects.

They often use the familiar names and terms and phrases, but the connection to the Star Trek world can be iffy at best.

But I found a Star Trek fan film that I think is worthy of recommending...that is if you enjoyed the original series.

This fan-produced series strives to conclude the original series' 5 year mission which was cut short at 3 years when the show was cancelled.

It is called 'Star Trek Continues'. The first episode is titled 'Pilgrim of Eternity'. If you stick with the series for 2 or 3 episodes, you will notice it has the same look and feel, not to mention the sounds, of the original series.

There are 11 episodes in total.

Here is episode 01:

Or, skip that one and check out the beautiful green Orion slave girl here:

"Contagion"
"Outbreak"
"The Andromeda Strain" (really good)

and if you can find it:

"Panic In The Streets" 1950 starring Richard Widmark. Really excellent and when actors acted, didn't have to look pretty.

In this suspenseful melodrama, a bullet-ridden corpse turns up in the water off the New Orleans docks. To the police, he’s a John Doe...until a public health doctor (Richard Widmark) discovers he carries a virulent strain of bubonic plague. Hundreds of officers are mobilized to track down the killers and all who had contact with the dead man in a desperate race against the clock before the highly contagious disease spreads far beyond the port area and puts the entire country in peril.

Finished Breaking Bad recently. The first couple if seasons were humorous, especially that very first episode. But then it seriously degrades from there into megalomania and the inevitable ending.

I've been waffling on whether to start Better Call Saul. Life is pretty dark right now. I'm not sure that I need more American Dystopia right now. For the same reason, no Zombie Apocalypse themes either.

What I need is a good comedy. I just finished Big Bang Theory. The Vanity Cards at the end are as good as the script of the stories.

If you can stand MILF power shows, Mom is decent. Young Sheldon is okay. I missed Two and a Half Men. Maybe watching the slow meltdown of Charlie Sheen could be fun. Winning! Thank goodness for the TiVo DVR.

Maybe Frankie and Johnny. I heard that's okay. The Komisky Method is supposed to be pretty good as well.
