I also had a Carmen Ghia which I paid $100 for and swapped out the engine and drove it for many years. Also my favorite was my VW Westaflia Camper like this one. My wife and I drove it to LA from Houston and back and camped out the whole way. It really struggled in the mountains.

Finally got my drivers door and window all put back together. Window regulator maintenance after 50 years truly sucked.
Not exactly enthusiastic to do the passenger side but did make it in time to a local car show today:

Updates

Will do Alex ;

I too like the Kubelwagens translates to 'bucket car' in German), I once passed the chance to buy one for $3,000 .

Yesterday afternoon the God alone knows how old Optima AGM battery failed in a gas station, it was well used when I bought this car in 2016 .

Amphibious Vehicles

THANX Alex! .

Long long ago in the Easy Coast was a kiddie park way out in the swamps, one of the rides was an old WWII DUKW like the one you show except it was open decked and operated by a teenager ~ they'd load it full of little kids (! ME !) and zoom along the dykes and suddenly turn and hit the water going quickly ~ we loved it, the parents not so much as they'd get wet .

The battery, an old red top OPTIMA 6 volt AGM one that was old when I bought the car in 2016, failed in a filling station Sunday so I'll try to order in a new one today(Monday) , charge it fully for 12 hours then get back to it .

Good you are salvaging this poor old thing!
My second car was a 1972 Beetle 1303 S (front disc rotor brakes). I liked it and it was very reliable.

I will follow your progress with joy

Yes. Float and rides. And pretty good. That's still left. You can still buy it.

A fellow captain had one and he traveled to the far east and back with his wife. He had taken a few ferries to cross a few rivers. It took him a month to travel from the far west of USSR to the far east round trip back in early 80's...some places had no paved roads... :D
