Sig P229R

Post by sagerat » Sun Sep 19, 2021 11:47 am

My first Sig. Snagged a Sig P229R Nitron and it’s been an absolute pleasure to shoot. Heavier to carry than my Glock G19 Gen 5, but the increased accuracy is nice. The Glock is fine, I just seem to do better with the Sig.

Fantastic trigger and I always shoot it DA on first shot. Got used to DA/SA pistols with my Beretta 92FS. Being old enough to have cut my teeth on revolvers, I actually enjoy a good DA/SA pistol.

May snag a P226 or 220 to keep the 229 company.

Which caliber did you select: 9mm, .40S&W, or .357SIG?

I have a P226 chambered in .357SIG that I purchased in 1994, when the round was introduced. It's a fantastic cartridge, the only problem being that it never really caught on and is now quite expensive to shoot. Fortunately, all it takes is a barrel swap to shoot .40S&W.

The P226 is quality kit, but much too large for concealed carry. It serves "nightstand pistol" duty.

Buddy has a 320; shoots nicely but I prefer my P229 and my Glock 19 Gen 5 to the P320. Not a knock on the P320 as that is a nice pistol.

Shoots like a stealth fighter too. 1sec drill gets all 15 in the head at 50ft. I've practiced a bit.
