Recent Smoke Pole Project.

Post by INSUBORDINATOR » Mon May 13, 2019 9:49 pm

I hope its finished, it was having failure to eject properly. A real head scratcher - since AK's were made for toothless natives in 3rd world countries to keep running with old motor oil & a shoelace. This one is a gentrified "target" HUNGARIAN FEG, made to an exceptionally high standard in the FEG factory. All parts have matching serial #s. It was made during the CLINTON BAN & only uses 10 rnd. single stack mags, & has a scope mount & a lighted Zenit Military Scope, I keep separated.& fits my Romanian AK. I consider this to be my "Baby DRAGONOV".

Now it has all new springs & a brand new extractor claw. wish me luck, hope it does the trick.
Pretty is as pretty does - & I think this is a very handsome one.

it would only take a few min to allow it to accept standard double stack mags. there should be two ribs spot welded inside the mag well. all you would have to do is carefully sand them down with a dremel to allow a regular mag to fit. dont go too far or youll end up with mag wobble

Hi, I also have a more "Tactical" hi-capacity folding Romarm SAR -1.(AK)) with a different job description. I'm leaving this one as is - as they are scarce in unaltered condition, & getting to be expensive. I'm OK with the short 10 rnd mags - for using my bi-pod & scope on a bench rest, or prone. I have 8 magazines for it. Very enjoyable "target" rifle, & surprisingly accurate out to 300 yds.

IT is as close to THIS - as I can arrange on a fixed income >>>>>>

That stock should help with cheek weld and a decent sight boost accuracy.
The biggest help would be a few more inches of barrel.
Hard to tell form the pic, is that barrel about 12"?

Hi Lew, These MAY actually be legal there - as they can't have more than a factory ten round magazine - unless modified.

Prolly not...

Currently in California, a rifle with a detachable magazine is considered an "Assault rifle" and as such is illegal to own. If a rifle has a magazine release button (that can be operated with the finger), it's illegal. If it is less than 30" long it is illegal. If it has a "thumb hole" is considered an assault rifle.

To remove the 'assault rifle' classification weapons must be fitted with a "bullet button" making it necessary to use a "tool" to release the magazine. The "bullet button" is simply (not simple at all) a device that recesses the magazine release button enough that the tip of the finger cannot release the magazine. The tip of a bullet is long enough to reach into the recess and is legally acknowledged as a "tool".

Of course the "bullet button", while now legal, totally defeats the intent of the legislation (making it impossible for an active shooter to quickly change magazines (thereby protecting JQ Public from deranged shooters)), so California legislators are ardently attempting to create legislation that makes it necessary to physically remove screws, etc. to change a magazine.

But I do believe that "bullet button" conversion kits are available for AKs.

I'm personally beginning to wonder if becoming proficient with a muzzle loading weapon might be the way to go...

Mein Gott. I have a NIB LE6920 that would likely give a California legislator a coronary for just looking at it...

It's still NIB because I'm having too much fun with my M59/66 to bother with the Colt, which was purchased on a whim.

Sweet. The 59/66 is sufficiently scary looking alone; need to slap a 75rd drum on it and bring it on out here. :P
