Re: Possibly Helpful Stuff
You guys are on the right track. The HH are Sintered pads.Coluralado wrote:I know people have used the HH style. I've just always have gone into my local Japanese bike shop and bought the FA244 Organic pads.
The best part of HH pads is that they are almost impervious to brake fade, but... they are REALLY ABRASIVE to your rotors.
You may get double the pad life as was stated above but you will get half the rotor life.
I use HH pads on my ST1100 cus it goes fast and i sport ride it, HARD. But if normal driving is the use stick with the Organics.

Re: Possibly Helpful Stuff
to follow up...the local bmw-ural dealer had the regular ebc pads in stock.
My rotor is fairly worn and it took a bit for the pads to seat but all is well(now).
Thanks again for the help

carb scew removal tip-if you have Mikuni's or Keihin's
they are not phillips screws, they are JIS. They look they same but the JIS grooves are not as deep so a typical phillips bit won't seat and when turned will have a tendency to strip the head. Either use a JIS screwdriver, file a phillips tip off so it's not so pointed, or use a drywall screw bit on the carb screws.
Also, before unscrewing insert the screwdriver into the screw and give it a light tap (gentle not bfh), this helps loosen the screw. It is also a good trick when taking off the master cylinder cover.

Mack,
Great resource. Thanks. Now I know where I can get parts locally so I don't have to drive 300 or so miles to get parts.
