Darrell,
Did you consider removing the P-brake bracketry from the rear caliper as well? I was wondering if I could remove the brackets and turn the P-brake spline out(counter clockwise)? May need to be lock wired but it seems like without the actuator arm installed it would just ride along loose.

I'm going to remove mine as well. Once I adjusted it according to the tech bulletin for the brakes I kept breaking cables when it sat engaged for any amount of time. The cable pulls out of the barrel at the P-brake handle. So I just leave it in reverse when parked. It's a shame because it was actually working once I adjusted it.

Thanks,
-Scot

Yes I considered removing the bracket, but it is an integral part of the rear caliper. The rear brake won't work if you turn the P-brake spline out all the way. That is why I put that long both in there, to hold the p-brake spline back against stop. I've never had to adjust that piece since I put the bolt in to hold it.

Hey Daryl, does that bolt you placed in there to push the cam back have anything to do with the parking brake light? Not sure what the 2014's had/have, but I just did the same to my 2017 that had the bar mounted brake lever and the wire from it ran behind the head light to the wire bundle area, I just unplugged the cable and removed everything, the brake offered no braking at all. Now I have the light on on my speedometer. Just saw this and wondered if the connector I unplugged just needs to be shorted to make the light go out, or does this lever need to be pushed back like you did. Mine seemed to be normally actuated back to begin with, but you never know... Thanks.

2014's didn't have a parking brake light.

According to the 2017 wiring diagram, there should be a switch somewhere that puts a ground on to light the parking brake light. Not sure how that switch is activated though.

Pretty sure it is in the lever mounted on the bar. When engaged, the switch opens and light comes on, so when I unplugged it, I opened the circuit making the light come on. I will insert a shorting plug to verify. Will let you know since you be the guy we all ask our questions of! Thanks for the wealth of knowledge you process and freely give!!!

Yes, parking brake circuit is normally closed, when brake is pulled, the switch basically shorts the two wires. I just used the plug I removed to make a shorting plug, light is now out. Plus I installed the bolt like Daryl did to make sure the rear mechanism stays in position.
