mis behaving start

Woe unto you that bought the first model year of a major remake, perhaps this section can help address any 2014 and later model Ural "imperfections". Here's a special section for folks with the latest rigs to discuss 2014 and later model-related topics such fuel injection, 3-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic steering dampers, spin-on oil filters and other anomalies that don't belong on true Russsian motorcycle ;-P We've gone from using big hammers and greasy wrenches to needing computers and Ouija boards in order to fix our rigs.

Please keep this section specific to issues pertaining to 2014 and later models such as fuel injection, sidecar and rear disc brakes and so forth. Ask general or non-2014 and later specific questions in the main Hammerin' & Wrenchin' section.

mis behaving start

Post by Bigflash1 » Mon Apr 22, 2019 6:19 pm

New GU with 2k+ miles (had it 2.5 months)
Started being hard to start and won't cold start without
throttle, which causes belching back thru the intake.
Seems to run ok once it's warm. This is a new behavior
as it functioned as it should for the 1st couple of months

Anything I can / should do or is it back to the dealer?

Just wondering, don't want to donate this thing to a dealer as
am so looking fwd to CRAP

Balance throttle bodies and set rpm to 1050 at idle. Make sure engine is at operating temp when adjusting idle.

So I really do need to invest in the cable and SW apps to
get into the system then. I figured I need too but was
in need of the collective wisdom.

Thank you!

Check some of the simple stuff before you spend any money. Make sure fuel is OK and no water, air filter is clean and not oil soaked, plugs/wires are OK, no intake manifold leaks, valves are adjusted etc. Otherwise if nothing is obvious then I would contact the dealer and let them handle it, perhaps having the latest map installed will fix some or all of the issues. :)

It's been doing it for about 10 days now so
probably 3 tanks of fuel all from different stations.

I did check the air filter. Still looks brand new
it runs fine once warm so it's definitely something associated with temp.

I'll pop the covers off this weekend and check my rocker gaps.

Thanks
