2016 Gear up sidecart tire is leaning in

Woe unto you that bought the first model year of a major remake, perhaps this section can help address any 2014 and later model Ural "imperfections". Here's a special section for folks with the latest rigs to discuss 2014 and later model-related topics such fuel injection, 3-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic steering dampers, spin-on oil filters and other anomalies that don't belong on true Russsian motorcycle ;-P We've gone from using big hammers and greasy wrenches to needing computers and Ouija boards in order to fix our rigs.
Forum rules
Please keep this section specific to issues pertaining to 2014 and later models such as fuel injection, sidecar and rear disc brakes and so forth. Ask general or non-2014 and later specific questions in the main Hammerin' & Wrenchin' section.

Tomcatfixer I understand the two fixed adjustable struts but how do I swing the rear pivot up? I took my Ural for a 40 mile ride today all is well but I know it is not right. The sidecar and fender are level but the tire is leaning in at the top.I do not quite understand how to pivot it up to pull the tire vertical to the ground. Also thank all for your input.
im not a expert by a long way but when i was contemplating doing just this, my research showed that loosening the 2 bolts that are on the bottom of the side car u-joint cover where it connects to the final drive, then using a jack raise or lower the dog leg to get the wheel vertically straight. here is a video explaining exactly how to do this look at 3:15 mark approx link www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxq2pExzwmQ

If you don't also adjust the front up, then you're gonna place your tub in a nose-down orientation.
I mean, if that's the way you want it, then by all means, point that sucker down!

EDIT - The reason the front wasn't adjusted in that video is because the older Urals didn't HAVE an adjustable front sidecar dogleg! We live in such wonderous times: we can level our sidecars front-to-back, not just side-to-side!

So is the wall of their workshop. Probably an illusion due to distortion from the wide-angle camera lens.

True; there's a little more dust on the outboard side tread than the inside. Jon's gonna have to lower those sidecar dolly struts to get proper shop floor hack alignment.

Lets just replace the connection to the bike with two large springs. Then the bike can lean a little, it would absorb more road vibration and over all be a superior solution. What could go wrong?

That's your cue to try it Chad.

thanks for pointing this out, question what is the round tubular part called that the snowmen are attached to called? i want to say its a axle but it really isnt. once saw a member here that noticed the sidecar end was 1/2 in higher than the bike end and he felt making this part straight would make the sidecar wheel 0 camber. as his sidecar wheel had a 2 degree negative. :? :?:

I would simply call that the sidecar frame. It has to be lower to allow for drive shaft clearance. It is possible to set one up incorrectly enough to where the shaft will contact the snowmen mounting location.

understand, does that alignment have anything to do with the sidecar camber?

Sounds like one of your sidecar swingarm bushings has collapsed like mine. They “replaced” it under warranty and it’s still fubar’d. If Ural would make the swingarm forward mount bar about 1/4 inch or so longer it would probably stop it from happening.

Update: I adjusted my sidecar up on the inside and got the tire straight up but it did not seem right to cant it that much so I put it back where it was.
I fell out of warranty two days ago but could not get it to the shop because of bad weather so I guess i am on my own now.
Thank you all for your input.

IMWA is typically liberal with their warranty period. I recommend that you make the attempt. Even if your local dealer is unmotivated to file the claim, there are dealers that will help.
