2017 and up Speedometer settings database.

Woe unto you that bought the first model year of a major remake, perhaps this section can help address any 2014 and later model Ural "imperfections". Here's a special section for folks with the latest rigs to discuss 2014 and later model-related topics such fuel injection, 3-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic steering dampers, spin-on oil filters and other anomalies that don't belong on true Russsian motorcycle ;-P We've gone from using big hammers and greasy wrenches to needing computers and Ouija boards in order to fix our rigs.
Forum rules
Please keep this section specific to issues pertaining to 2014 and later models such as fuel injection, sidecar and rear disc brakes and so forth. Ask general or non-2014 and later specific questions in the main Hammerin' & Wrenchin' section.

2017 and up Speedometer settings database.

Post by Burt1713 » Mon Sep 04, 2017 1:29 pm

There have been instances of 2017 speedometers either losing their settings or being accidentally reprogrammed. I would like to make a list of all of the proper settings, all but one of the settings are the same from model to model. I have a CT so I will list the settings for it, and if others could add the settings for a M70/Retro, Patrol, and Gear Up I would appreciate it.

The settings are accessed by pressing the mode and reset buttons for 2 seconds with the key on, the bike doesn't need to be running though. The mode button cycles though the options. The reset button changes them.

12 or 24 hour clock: user preference
Current time: I would recommend the correct time for this setting
Miles until next service: user preference
Max RPM factory set at 06500
You can set this to any rpm you wish using the mode and reset buttons. When the set RPM is exceeded the LCD backlight will turn red. Thanks to Barry AKA Windmill for discovering this feature.

Tachometer settings factory setting "SP1r1P" if you hook up the tach you will need to change this setting to "SP2r1P"

http://www.sovietsteeds.com/forums/view ... 23&t=49289

Tire circumference on a CT this is c0477, a Gear Up is c0450 need to know what this number is on other models.

Number of pulses per wheel revolution factory setting is P-001
Type of sensor factory setting is HALL

If we can complete this list with the circumference settings for all 2017 models we may be able to save someone a few headaches.

A few more fun thing you can do with a 2017 speedometer.

If all else fails try disconnecting the battery to reset the speedometer. Be advised, you should leave the speedometer disconnected for at least 30 seconds to allow all of the internal circuits to discharge.

Known faults that disconnecting the battery will fix:

LCD flashing red to green with speedometer otherwise functional.
Speedometer inoperable and LCD displaying "Ural"

Also if you have the optional higher final drive gear ratio that will change the circumference settings as well. If we can get this setting for all of the models too that would be great.

Thanks Burt1713 the salesman drove the 2 hours out to pick up my bike and take it back to replace the speedo and the mechanic figured out it was not on the hall sensor. They also replaced the recalled parking brake cable that the end came off. So I am up and riding again. Again thanks to all. You all on this site are a amazing bunch that can get it done!

I thought It was odd that the function was enabled in the LCD menu when the spot for the shift warning indicator as shown in the manualhttp://www.acewell-meter.com/wp-content/upload ... 150211.pdf is used for the parking brake indicator on our speedos.
Set it just to see what would happen, the LCD flashing red was a total surprise.

The flashing after max rpm would be great combined with a chart on this site somewhere that has the recommended shift rpms!

From what I have read the red line is 5800 rpm (but no guarantees), as for shift points those vary by conditions, uphill/ downhill, loaded or not, how fast you are trying to accelerate, etc.

There is a chart. Although this thread applies mainly to pre-EFI models the chart would still be accurate.

My speedo doesn't show the circumference setting when I cycle through the settings. Am I missing something? It goes from SP1r1P to P-001.
