How to make a 2017 and up tachometer functional.

Woe unto you that bought the first model year of a major remake, perhaps this section can help address any 2014 and later model Ural "imperfections". Here's a special section for folks with the latest rigs to discuss 2014 and later model-related topics such fuel injection, 3-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic steering dampers, spin-on oil filters and other anomalies that don't belong on true Russsian motorcycle ;-P We've gone from using big hammers and greasy wrenches to needing computers and Ouija boards in order to fix our rigs.
Forum rules
Please keep this section specific to issues pertaining to 2014 and later models such as fuel injection, sidecar and rear disc brakes and so forth. Ask general or non-2014 and later specific questions in the main Hammerin' & Wrenchin' section.

Up to 2018, Electrojet EFI, both ECU's will have a coil output wire. So one of the ECU's then.

2019, Keihin EFI, I haven't the foggiest. But safe to assume the Keihin ECU drives an ignition coil, or coils, plural.

Looks like IMZ is on to us! They have removed the rpm wire from the 2019 diagram, still have regular coils though. My question is why doesnt Ural hook it up from the factory? You would think after a few years they would figure out how to get it working? Is this just a crazy oversight or do they just not care that the bike has a non functional tachometer built right in?

When you cycle through the modes on you 19’s speedometer are there a “RPM” and “Max RPM” displays?

I know there is an rpm display but it just reads 0, can't recall if there is a max display and I'm not gonna be home for a while to check.

I would say the speedometer is the same as 17-18s, you’ll just have to figure out which primary wire on the coil to connect to and the rest of the setup should be the same.

From what I can interpret from the schematic, if you splice the grey primary wire from either coil to the grey wire, from the speedometer, shown in the picture below your tachometer should work. You will have to adjust the settings as described in the original post so the tachometer doesn’t read half speed.

It wasn't a function Ural requested for their custom configuration of the speedo from the manufacturer Acewell, and as such they didn't have the manufacturer of the wire harness add the wires and connectors for it.

The Acewell speedo is basically one of their standard models with the Ural logo, and a parking brake light added, They simply didn't remove or disable any of the standard functions Ural didn't request.

In reality its a freebie to us from Acewell, not an oversight from Ural.

At this point the tachometer will function, but will read half of the actual RPM. To correct this you will need to turn the key on, but not start the bike. With the key on Press and hold both the mode and reset buttons on the speedometer for 2 seconds. This will bring up the 12/24 hour setting for the clock. Press mode multiple times until the LCD screen reads "RPM SP1r1P" you will need to change this with the reset button to read "RPM SP2r1P”.

At this point turn the key off and you are done.

I found the grey wire, but can't figure out how to get at the coil to tap into the grey wire there. Please help.

If you remove the fasteners from the fuel tank, you may be able to move it enough to access them sufficiently to add an in line tap. I ended up having to remove the tank on my M70.

Ok my answer works so far. Mychron rpm sensor for cart.

https://www.bmikarts.com/Mychron-RPM-Se ... p_950.html

Came with no instructions so I just clipped it on the plug wire and laid the wire along the length of the plug wire, put the other end to the grey loose wire in the headlight bucket that goes to the speedometer and so far it works fine.
