Traveling fuel line kit

Woe unto you that bought the first model year of a major remake, perhaps this section can help address any 2014 and later model Ural "imperfections". Here's a special section for folks with the latest rigs to discuss 2014 and later model-related topics such fuel injection, 3-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic steering dampers, spin-on oil filters and other anomalies that don't belong on true Russsian motorcycle ;-P We've gone from using big hammers and greasy wrenches to needing computers and Ouija boards in order to fix our rigs.

Please keep this section specific to issues pertaining to 2014 and later models such as fuel injection, sidecar and rear disc brakes and so forth. Ask general or non-2014 and later specific questions in the main Hammerin' & Wrenchin' section.

Traveling fuel line kit

Post by GHGoodwin » Tue Apr 14, 2015 6:33 pm

Here's the final tank removal kit I worked up for my '14. QD under tank necessary for this. Five to ten mins to get the tank off because the seat comes off first. No draining. Gas spillage under an ounce.

Three male 5/16ths plugs.
Three female caps.
Three straight 1/4in fuel line plugs.
Two fuel line clamps.
Small fuel line pliers.
Plastic storage tube from big box store.

As packed.

I've looked for the black/blue female 5/16 plastic disconnects to have some spares and come up empty- any good sources?

PNW Engine Guard, Biltwell "Tracker" handlebars, Depner 2-lever gated quadrant shifter... more in progress....

I don't think it (black/blue) matters as long as they fit. Autoparts store should have them.

Thanks Hal. Advance Auto had been clueless (I guess they can't find anything the computer doesn't tell them by make/model/year) so I'd gone on the 'net but not found the same ones. Will ask at more of a regional/local auto parts store.

You might not get blue ones but they're out there. Make the male plugs first out of 5/16ths fuel line repair parts first. Take them with you to a serious parts store. Local NAPA that also supplies a couple of auto dealers had them behind the counter. Like you I found several of the brand name boxes illiterate without make/model. :x We're living in the era of replacemen instead of repairmen. God help us all.
