2014 Final Drive Tech Bulletin

Woe unto you that bought the first model year of a major remake, perhaps this section can help address any 2014 and later model Ural "imperfections". Here's a special section for folks with the latest rigs to discuss 2014 and later model-related topics such fuel injection, 3-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic steering dampers, spin-on oil filters and other anomalies that don't belong on true Russsian motorcycle ;-P We've gone from using big hammers and greasy wrenches to needing computers and Ouija boards in order to fix our rigs.
Forum rules
Please keep this section specific to issues pertaining to 2014 and later models such as fuel injection, sidecar and rear disc brakes and so forth. Ask general or non-2014 and later specific questions in the main Hammerin' & Wrenchin' section.

Hooray to Coluraldo for sharing this; Hooray for IMZ for getting to the bottom of it and offering a comprehensive solution.

Interesting, I was also told by my dealer that the recommended oil level be reduced in the 2014 2wd final drives to the same amount as the 1wd, 110 ml and not the 135ml as stated in the manual. Seemed very emphatic about it.

Many thanks Coluraldo.

I find it interesting that they offer three options for this repair (I think I read that right) I'm impressed with their commitment to us wackos who buy these rigs.

I'm only seeing one repair procedure in the document, in three steps.

There are three options:

1. Have your dealer order the parts and rebuild the FD in his shop.
2. Have your dealer return your FD to IMWA (Ural HQ) and they will rebuild it and ship it back to the dealer.
3. Have your dealer request a rebuilt FD from IMWA and when it comes in he will swap yours out with the rebuilt one.

I'm curious on just how many of these rigs have had or are having this problem.....I guess I'm feeling lucky as my rig seems not to be displaying any really annoying issues. It's done nothing but treat me right for up to this point.....5000 Ks and counting :D The boys at the factory must have been having a good day when they slapped it together.

Tech bulleting says "early production 2014 Urals". I think it may be limited to the first two or three shipping containers that came across.

Yes mine is affected. Seems like it affected the first Urals to reach the US.....first one or two shipping containers.
