Video-2014 Ural Sidecar Brake Adjustment

Woe unto you that bought the first model year of a major remake, perhaps this section can help address any 2014 and later model Ural "imperfections". Here's a special section for folks with the latest rigs to discuss 2014 and later model-related topics such fuel injection, 3-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic steering dampers, spin-on oil filters and other anomalies that don't belong on true Russsian motorcycle ;-P We've gone from using big hammers and greasy wrenches to needing computers and Ouija boards in order to fix our rigs.
Forum rules
Please keep this section specific to issues pertaining to 2014 and later models such as fuel injection, sidecar and rear disc brakes and so forth. Ask general or non-2014 and later specific questions in the main Hammerin' & Wrenchin' section.

Just so the newbies understand,"Kermitski" was a member who has much experience and many, many Km's on his rig. He has a very unique way with words and is a well respected Foilhead in the Russian rig community even though he sold his rig a few years ago. Every once in a while Kermitski visits here...

This video, along with explanation of how to adjust rear parking brake, should take care of brake issues. I still have a little trouble understanding a "floating caliper", but if that is what is there, then you have to deal with it on the rear pusher wheel.

Brakes are simple mechanicals with maybe/maybe not enough adjustment in the rods that pump the master cylinders. As Darrell says, if the rod is too long, just shorten it.

YMMV

Bravo, thank you.

I am all for figuring things out, but also don't like to spend time reinventing wheels, so it is great when we can learn from each other- leaving more time and ingenuity to figure out how to mess up new and different things!

My Rod appears to be too short, not too long. With it all the way out, I have very little sidecar brake. How long should that rod be? wonder if the dealer cut mine. Can I get a longer one? The pedal goes down way to far to final get the sidecar brake to grab.

Did you try taking the linkage off the shaft that runs through the frame and putting it back on one notch closer? It is explained at the end of the video. That should provide quite a bit of change.
