Brake Pads 2018 Gear Up

Woe unto you that bought the first model year of a major remake, perhaps this section can help address any 2014 and later model Ural "imperfections". Here's a special section for folks with the latest rigs to discuss 2014 and later model-related topics such fuel injection, 3-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic steering dampers, spin-on oil filters and other anomalies that don't belong on true Russsian motorcycle ;-P We've gone from using big hammers and greasy wrenches to needing computers and Ouija boards in order to fix our rigs.
Forum rules
Please keep this section specific to issues pertaining to 2014 and later models such as fuel injection, sidecar and rear disc brakes and so forth. Ask general or non-2014 and later specific questions in the main Hammerin' & Wrenchin' section.

Brake Pads 2018 Gear Up

Post by ScottP » Thu Aug 04, 2022 2:26 am

Hello All ~

Does anyone know of a readily available substitute for rear brake pads on a 2018 Gear Up?

I’m told it’s a 2-4 week wait, and I’m hopeful I can locate another source. It’d be “great news” if someone suggests the ubiquitous KLR650 utilizes the same rear pads :)

Thanks in advance, I’ll hang up and listen

Scott

Thanks very much 😊 - now why didn’t I think of that?

My BMW dealer is doing a service for me on the rear tire and searched for rear pads yesterday. I’ll order these - thanks, Scott

Just be sure to engage the slider eyes on both pads during installation, and you'll be golden.

And for the other wheels.

The semi-sintered are definitely the way to go, they offer superior performance, last a lot longer, and significantly increase the parking brake adjustment intervals.
