efi coughs off idle.

Woe unto you that bought the first model year of a major remake, perhaps this section can help address any 2014 and later model Ural "imperfections". Here's a special section for folks with the latest rigs to discuss 2014 and later model-related topics such fuel injection, 3-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic steering dampers, spin-on oil filters and other anomalies that don't belong on true Russsian motorcycle ;-P We've gone from using big hammers and greasy wrenches to needing computers and Ouija boards in order to fix our rigs.

Please keep this section specific to issues pertaining to 2014 and later models such as fuel injection, sidecar and rear disc brakes and so forth. Ask general or non-2014 and later specific questions in the main Hammerin' & Wrenchin' section.

Update: I sent my throttle bodies to Andrew who flashed them with the off road map.

The difference is absolutely night and day. It’s a completely different bike. All farts, burps, and hesitation off idle are gone.

I could tell before I even synched the throttle bodies. As soon as I started it, it remained running! That was never the case before; even on relatively warm days a cold motor could be expected to stall at least once before grudgingly settling into an uneasy idle, stalling if I gave it throttle before the requisite two minute warmup routine.

It explains why Ural had to go to Keihin if getting the bike to run properly requires an “Off-Road” map that presumably flunks EPA requirements.

Anyway, I’m a dumbass for not finding a way of getting this done sooner, and Andrew is an absolute hero for turning this around. He sent me pictures and video showing the values before and after and some of the procedure. I’ll post these up when I have a chance.

He even tested and flashed three extra throttle bodies I managed to collect at some point, so now I have some ready-to-use spares if anyone in the community needs one!

Hurray! I can always tell a Gen 1 EFI bike that still has the Production tune...

By the way everyone: this worked well because Eastbloc already had the throttle bodies modified with normal vacuum ports, so he can adjust the idle sync using regular gauges instead of the expensive old dealer tool. (Unfortunately I can't loan out the Gen 1 dealer tool, because we've only got the one.)

Would using the OBD port for synchronizing the throttle bodies not yield similar results, Andrew?

Should be the same, yes. I've not had the impression too many people have an ODB connection to their Gen 1 EFI. Not something I've tried myself, since I've got the dealer tool. But I've had one customer who ran OBD II to his phone, so that's a good sign.

Yep, I’ve done both. Drilled the TB’s before the ODB cables were invented :) I still prefer using the Twin-Max because it’s easier than fussing with the software.
