I'm glad to see the jacket getting some use; my missus barely used the thing. That's a loud exhaust on that thumper!

So the bike was bought used to be the little family learner's bike
The PO had a buell pro air intake, dynojet carb kit and vance&hines performance exhaust-ran horrible impossible to start.
Got rid of the dynojet kit replaced with new oem slide, needle-needle jet, pilot/main jets larger than stock
took out the auto choke and replaced with manual cable operated one
got my dB meter out was over 120 Db!! PO had gutted the pipes???
So we fabricated a quiet core, had it welded in the pipe and repacked it
Down to 80dB at idle....people do weird thing to bikes
With the added back pressure it starts right up and runs pretty good
She is enjoying the jacket! We just got a cycle gear modular helmet with the intercom for her last summer so I can coach her while riding
Still on her permit going to schedule the MSF class soon

Re: 1st Ride of 2021
My wife had a Buell Blast! in yellow, like this:
It was a fun bike. I enjoyed riding it. I actually ruined her motorcycle riding journey by riding her Blast!. I discovered that the bike would backfire every time you flipped the kill switch, even in rapid succession, so I had a little fun with that. On our first semi-major outing on public streets, she on her Blast!, me on a 1993 Honda CBR600F2, we stopped at a traffic light. When it turned green, I proceeded through the intersection, but her Blast! stalled out. She eventually got it restarted, embarrassed that cars had to wait on her, but it wasn't running right. We pulled into a parking lot, where I set out to analyze the problem. It wouldn't idle. I cranked the idle adjustment knob WAY up and the big single would sort of idle with difficulty, then I saw the problem: while the 500cc one-lunger sat there shaking and shuddering, trying to stay running, I saw the carburetor swing away from the intake. My backfiring shenanigans had blown it off. It was a simple fix, but the damage to the missus' psyche was done. Ever since, she has only been a passenger. Piloting a bike was never really her thing anyway.
Here's a little teaser...

It's so tantalizing close to being ready to "move in", but we're still waiting on garage doors, plus the contractors are currently removing the plaster, paint overspray, sawdust, and mud from the concrete slab. Also, it's still awaiting pressure tank and water heater, but we do have electricity and heat.
Here's a little teaser...

Re: 1st Ride of 2021
This one needs some explanation.
The local American Legion post has been trying to start a Legion Riders group for awhile. The scoutmaster of my son's old Boy Scout troop is chaplain of the post. He called me up on New Year's Eve and asked if I wanted to ride with them, so I threw down the gauntlet and said, "Sure - if you ride in the sidecar." He said, "Well, why not?"
I should mention, he's 88 years old and was scoutmaster of the troop for 43 years!
New Year's here it was about 42F and cold rain on and off. Despite that, he got in the sidecar and toughed it out. The group rode out to a local breakfast place, then back through the rain.
If I even make it to 88, I doubt I'll be thinking of riding motorcycles much less doing it. Let's hear it for staying young at heart!

Hey at least you have a roof over it...That helps out a lot!!
Had a lot of bikes had to park without a cover or roof over them throughout the years

I know what you mean. I wish they'd come out with something really incredible but it's hard to improve on the originals.
Wait... there's a lot to improve on the originals.
Wait...
