Mine Hunting with plumber John

Post by misplacedyank » Sun Feb 28, 2016 9:22 pm

After receiving an email from plumber John (a reader of Soviet Steeds but not a poster) we met up this morning and went for a little ride looking for some old mines near Wickenburg. After a cup of coffee to get to know each other we jumped on our rigs and headed out. John knew about that headed out of Wickenburg heading NE that I had never been on so we made that our destination. The weather was perfect and this was the first time for both of us riding with another Ural so it took a while getting used to seeing a sidecar either in front of me or in the mirrors. Watching the sidecar driveshaft spin is fun to see.

After a quick 30 miles on the highway we turned for a short drive on pavement and headed off past the best sign on any road "Pavement Ends".

We missed a turn and ended up in a w@$# where I found a path that led to a small mine.

We turned around and continued our trip finding some great scenery along the way.

We also found a couple of mines and some rather cool looking buildings

After finding the end of the road, we turned around and headed home.

All in all a very fun day. Thank you John for seeing a post of mine and contacting me. Judy and I enjoyed your company and it was fun to ride with another Uralista. I look forward to our next adventure.
