Hey! My father was stationed at Plattsburg AFB 1957-67 before I-87 was done. We were there when the last B-47 left.We lived over behind Northside Elementary School we were the first occupant of those Capehart houses on Kansas Avenue.

Ask him if he knew Capt. Lee Russell. I don’t think Dad made major until we were at Luke AFB. We were at Plattsburgh from 1962-67. We lived on both Old Base and New Base.

Looks like an amazing journey! Maybe when (and if I can) I retire, I can look at doing this. I work in the motorcycle industry, so vacations like this are out of the question.

Sadly, my father passed away 6 years ago. I would truly love to be able to ask him your question. Did you go to school in town or on the base?

One sister went Plattsburgh High and the other went to Peru. I did first grade on base and second off base and then we moved to Waco for a year before Luke.

Sorry about your Dad; mine’s 95 and still doing OK. I’m dreading the day he goes to the Great Hangar in the Sky as we jokingly call it.

It's been a few years (duh) I don't recall them. What grades were they in at Peru?

Barb went her junior and senior years. As a first grader I couldn’t figure out how my sister went to South America and back every day for class.

They were too cool to deal with a mere JHS student!!! I laugh when people confuse NY with SA Peru!!!

SFC ClarkA, just a note to say thanks for posting your adventure many months ago. You planted the seed for my recent trek to the Artic Circle. Sometimes during the tough parts of my ride I reminded myself that you completed this ride and it provided me a psychological boost. Also, thank you for you service and I wish you a speedy full recovery. Regards, Patrick

Thank you Patrick. My ride wasn't an original one but a motivation passed on to me from previous riders. When you and others keep me in their thoughts when making this ride, spiritually I'm back on the road with you. I'm back in the saddle on rare occasions nowadays, but I do have the itch to get back on the road again. Restoration of our newly purchased retirement home has taken up a lot of time and money. Hopefully 2019 will be my breakout year for travel as a retired person. Where are your ride pictures??
