Used Fairing Plastic

Post by heindlengineeringural » Thu Jan 04, 2018 1:31 pm

We have a stack of used ural fairing plastics that have cracked holes as shown. These are used, so there are some scratches on them, but are useable. Great to cut down for a shorter shield. $9 each plus shipping.

I've got to ask ... you're not concerned about windshield failures emanating from cracks/scratches around the screw holes?

Some people might be able to tolerate a little cracking at that price.
If you need a shorter windshield, just cut the cracked part off, plus somebody might repurpose for another fairing or possibly a sidecar windshield
I have the opposite problem, I need a taller windshield.

I need a taller windshield.
Then you need a Honda Goldwing windscreen on your fairing, like mine.

I have a taller windshield, I cut it from lexan, bought at Lowe's. I believe it's taller than your "Wingshield", and just about unbreakable. It's the same product they use in race cars.
I was just trying to answer Lew's question in regard to what someone might use a slightly cracked windshield for.

I’m interested! Any pics of the shield straight on showing the whole thing? I have an old aluminum Ural fairing I carried home from Kazakhstan. Needs new plexi and was planning on making a short half shield mostly for looks to match the Brooklands aeroscreen that’s going on the sidecar. This would save me a bunch of heating and bending the screen door plexi I have. The deer are off an old Soviet Volga Gaz 21 from the same era as my bike. Uncle Andrey says they must stay. Lol
