side curtain for sale

Post by Rich Maund » Sat Nov 04, 2017 7:19 pm

Made to fit the 2013 and newer Ural sidecars that use the twist tabs and eyelets up front. This side curtain has SS marine eyelets that have been sand blasted, solvent cleaned and then finished in a baked on semi gloss black moly resin finish. The curtain is a double thickness of 32 oz. marine grade leather grain vinyl finished around the edges with black leather grained edge binding that has been double stitched with heavy 138 size poly sailmakers thread. A heavy duty magnet is riveted on at the rear to attach it to the sidecar. The magnets face is covered in two layers of aluminum tape to prevent it from gathering swarf that can scratch paint. The tape is like they use on the bottom of a car CB radio antennae. Easy to wipe clean to prevent scratches.

Special sale price $100 shipped in the USA. Photo below. The silver thing you see on the outside at the rear is the aluminum tape covering the magnet. There is a SS fender washer on the other side that faces out as you look at it.

PM me if interest. I accept Pay Pal!

And I'll be happy to make more if y'all want them.

OK Folks! New Sale! January is typically a dead time for cycle business and a painful time when you have arthritis. So I have slowed down considerably.

On sale is the following.
#1 is identical to the photo above. Its two layers of black leather grained marine 32 0z. vinyl. Double stitched black edging. A 30 to 50mm dia. magnet at the rear to hold it to the sidecar. (Ladies, keep your purse away to protect CC's.) And it has the moly resin baked/coated SS eyelets at the front to retain it to the sidecar body. I cover the magnets with aluminum tape to protect paint. $100 shipped in the USA.

#2 is for the older Urals up thru 2012 that used the steel loops on the sidecar body to hold the tonneau on. So it's just like #1 except for having black leather patch grommets sewn on up front with snap on/off leather tabs to hold it onto the loops. Also, there is liquid vinyl behind the snap to protect paint. I've done these leather patch grommets since the late 90's and they are tough. Won't scratch paint too! Since the leather tabs snap on/off instead of being riveted in place, they are easily replaced if you lose one or eventually let them rot with age. I have pre treated the leather with a heavy dose of Tandy's Aussie Leather Balm. It'll be up to you to treat the leather after you own it! The tabs use standard marine snaps. $100 shipped in the USA.

#3 is like the above #2, but..... It uses black marine boat top canvas on the outer layer. Very tough stuff. The inner layer is leather grained marine vinyl. Again with a big magnet at the rear and leather grommets and tabs up front. $100 shipped in the USA.

These are $20 off the usual price folks. And shipping is typically $12 to $15. I use priority mail mailing boxes to protect them and ship them. Pay Pal is preferred and I can ship them Tuesday after the holiday. Contact me if you'd like one! Either a PM or email to maunds@verizon.net is fine. Thank you!

Here's a pic from one of my customers.
I've been building these for twenty years. Tested them in a thunderstorm! They do a great job of blocking the wind that gets sucked into the opening. The wind pressure holds them flat there with no flapping. You just layer it on under the tonneau or by itself.

Mikey. I just replied! And that one does work for PP.

#1 is spoken for. Thanks for looking folks! #2 and #3 still available for you old school owners!

BTW. If anyone is interested, I have a tan one here I can sell as well. It is tan canvas on the outside with tan leather fittings up front. Magnet in the rear. We'll call it #4. I was keeping it as a spare for my own rig. But these things don't wear out. I'll never need it.

Nope. I have never thought of doing that. Sorry. Not sure what would make them out of. Nylon will break down in the sun.

Side curtain #3 is now spoken for folks. Thank you!

#2 is still available. Double layer oxen leather grain marine vinyl with black leather fittings! I can priority mail it tomorrow. Contact me if you'd like it!

I don't think guys care Rich. Make 'em so they can be taken off without having to remove the shock; maybe button holes and a lace? Then they could be taken off to clean the mud'n'grunge out of the springs, etc.

If mud'n'grunge gets in there ANYWAY, why even bother covering the shocks?! :?

I'd buy a set of five. EDIT _ If they laced on from the side (so they could be installed without removing the shock (velcro would be destroyed instantly)).

Guys. I have no dies for installing eyelets. I know from experience that if I trimmed them in leather and punched holes for a lace, there is much friction in lacing. Not good for a snug fit. I could consider doing more hand work as the weather warms up. But as painful as my hands are now with the cold & wet, I am just not looking for ways to make them even more painful. But I'll think about it come Spring. I have some near OD Cordura here as well as cotton canvas 4 color woodland camo.
