Is the back side of the magnet area rubberized? Does the wind blow the door out-of-place as a result of magnet "scoot"? Does anyone make these for less than $75? So many questions!

I got mine from HDflame (I know, HDflame bad), but he seemed like a nice fellow on the phone and he does excellent work. It works great with the magnets, does not move while riding.

Use one of his also, dog rests her chin on it while riding. Good stuff, got my money's worth. Stays in place even at Ural speed.
I believe someone else on the forum was also making them, worth a search.

Looks nice, but for $75 I think I'll see if I can make one myself.

Agreed, but if I can make it myself for less than twice the price of just buying it that's usually the direction I'll go... of course that usually means that I spend the money to attempt making it, get fed up and buy the one being made anyway.

Wow. Lots of cheap bastards here! As bad as a Guzzi forum! HD Flame developed the magnet curtains some years back. He is a quite a craftsman IMO. I re-invented the side curtain for urals back in the 90's myself. (I say reinvent because I later saw one on a WWII bike in a museum. I have sold many dozens of them over the years. There have been some other guys offering to make them here and there over the years. They're not rocket science. But they do need to be made out of UV resistant marine grade materials.

For you cheap do it yourselfers! Cardboard and duct tape. That's the ticket! :-) And use a regular sewing machine so a bunch of stitches get dropped. You'll need a commercial grade walking foot machine to do it right.

I charge $100 for one shipped priority mail in the USA. Just in case you think I am getting rich off it, my income is below the poverty level. I am a real business and pay taxes. I doubt some of these guys over the years were anything but hobbyists'. Mine are a double layer of 32 oz. marine vinyl. Edged and sewn with heavy 138 poly sail makers thread. I use marine grade twist fasteners and heavy leather patch grommets with snap on leather tabs for the front loops. I've done this as a business since 1996.
yeah, I might be addicted to brake fluid. But I can stop any time I want.

I have one that mtbjohnny made. It was the first one he did for the 13 and up style fasteners and is very good quality and works excellent. I have it for sale in the Black Market right now as a matter of fact.

For me it's not so much being a cheap bastard (I've already admitted that it costs me more to try and DIY in the long run) so much as not being happy with the quality of what is being offered. As the factory canvas top that came with my '14 doesn't really fit back on the buckles after 5 minutes in the sun, I don't have a lot of confidence in the quality of the other "extras" they might have for sale. I have experience sewing heavy duck cotton canvas (and plan to try out some w@*ing), so I'll give it a go myself first. I enjoy having a project. If (likely when) I'm not satisfied with my own end product, I'll probably send you a PM to see about getting one made.
