New Ural - New driver

Post by rswestling » Wed Oct 07, 2020 2:46 pm

Hello,
On Saturday I'm picking up a 2020 Terracotta Ural Tourist here in the UK. It will be my first sidecar rig (or outfit as they call them here...). I have taken some off road lessons, so have a general sense of how they handle, and have planned a very laidback ride home after picking her up. Decided on a sidecar rig so that my dog can join me, and I think they are more fun when taking someone along for a ride. Decided on a Ural as I like the idea that the bike was designed from the ground up as a rig, and I don't need to get anywhere in a hurry.

Wish me luck!
Take care,
Robert

Congrats, nice looking rig. I bought mine hoping the dog would join me but no luck so far. It's a tight squeeze for him.
At least my wife enjoys it :)

Thanks guys!

We've been getting our dog used to doggles, and she has sat in the sidecar, so hopefully it will work out. Either way I think my wife will have more fun than on the bikes we've owned in the past. (that's my hope anyway!)

Once you get the side car over on the correct side you are good to go.

Many happy trips

Wow, new rig in the UK, that's a rarity these days! You should be easy to spot if you are out on the roads. Whereabouts are you based?

Yes, David said he sold two 2020 outfits. Both delayed by covid. Mine arrived a couple of weeks ago, but it took some time to get it registered. I'm in Essex, near Colchester. But I plan to drive all over the UK, and the continent when we can.

Of course it will also be easy to spot as it is metallic orange!

Hopefully, you run into Mr. Wazzock from this site. He also is sporting a terracotta CT with a trailer at times.

That is beautiful. When you get up to highway speed, it really helps to have the sidecar windshield either down or removed.
The sidecar windshield dumps all of it's air on your face. I really like that color. The CT has the smaller rims 18" vs 19" on the 2wd Gear up. So it has 5% better off the line performance.
Have fun.

I am certainly happy with what mine does for get up and go. I think the color adds another 5%
