My New 1999 Ural

Post by roncamp » Tue Sep 15, 2020 10:24 pm

Greetings from Hawaii. I just purchased a 1999 Ural for $3800 14,378KM and I have some questions about it.

What Model is it? I cant find any markings. It has been repainted.

Any information about that year? for example production numbers, manuals, wiring diagrams stuff like that.

Some of the parts were made in the USSR. It has a electric starter that works when it wants to. If you would like more pictures just ask. I was told it was restored from the frame up from the past owner. But collecting Militaria has taught me to Buy the Item not the story. So is there any maintenance I should do before I use it everyday?

Thank you
Steven

That front telescopic fork and the rear stoplight is telling me it is a Bavarian Classic.
It originally came with single bench seat and white paint stripes.

I just found remnants of white stripes under the side car. So I will say it is a Bavarian Classic.

While it has nothing to do with military, some of "Made in USSR" parts are just leftover parts from USSR times production and some of the factory production molds/stamps already had that and was used to produce parts beyond 1991...

Your carburetors are Keihin CVK. That 1998 manual has Mikuni carbs and no electric starter, the rest of info should be good for your bike.

If it is starting, running and driving ok, just change all oils (engine, gearbox, final drive), check/clean gas tank, carbs... brakes, service wheel bearings.

Do not exceed speeds posted on your gas tank. Keep in between "During Running in" and "After Run-In" speeds.

I knew they were Civilian parts because they don't say 3AKA3 MO CCCP if we are following soviet watch markings. I found it interesting that only 2 indicators say it the rest said Сделано в России. I suspected it was factory left overs just grabbing parts from a big bin. Thanks for the info.

Exsactly, it is missing a machine gun. 😃

Military five point star is stamped on engine cases...

Now, most of it сделано, где придётся и где попало.

Ok, here is 2000 Repair Manual link for downloading: http://dnepr.ural.free.fr/documentation ... e_2000.pdf
