Welcome. I am prone to making "impulsive" purchases in a similar manner to you. There's nothing wrong with measuring twice and cutting once.

I have been looking at them for 30 years? Maybe a bit longer.

South of Anchorage surveying along a big lake back in the late 70s, early 80s a guy came putting along on a Ural.

I was fascinated, didn't know anything about side cars let alone who made them nor 2WD. Followed them casually ever since and more so when I realized I could work for a while longer and save up to buy one and get back into cycling.

COSTCO up here carried them at one time of all things.

Harley Shop carried them for a while so I got to see them from time to time (Harley carries my beloved S100 cleaner)

Corresponded with a guy who had one and was doing a world tour (not sure it was on a Ural but he had one at one time). I remember discussion 2WD and how its NOT to be used on ice!

Similar story here. Been looking for maybe 10 years. Just picked up a 2019 GU about month ago. Been too busy to post anything about it so far. If Costco had carried them here, it wouldn't have taken 10 years!
