Lemme tell you, I already thought Burt1713 was creative with his various wood projects, plus his cool Ural bobber build, but after seeing his innovative quick-release fairing bracket, I have to elevate 'creative' to 'brilliant'.

As he mentioned, I run a Honda Goldwing windscreen on my fairing, which is considerably taller and wider than the OEM Ural windscreen.

At speed or on bumpy terrain, my fairing (and moreso the windscreen) can flex and flutter a bit with the Ural mounting hardware. With this quick-release bracket's six points of contact to the bike, it is rock-solid.

Other benefits are that the QD bracket doesn't touch the handlebar, which leaves you additional mounting options for accessories AND makes the fairing work with any handlebar riser, without changing the fairing angle. With the QD mounting scheme, you no longer need to touch the headlight bucket bolts, so you never have to re-aim your headlight after removing or installing the fairing.

Burt1713 has thoughtfully made the QD bracket adjustable in several different dimensions to accommodate Ural manufacturing variances, which we discovered was validated while installing the kit on the Mobile Chernobyl. We had to position components differently than Burt1713 did on Woody Moose.

Now that I can install or remove the fairing in seconds, I can choose to install it if there's rain in the forecast or quickly remove it during the winter (when I normally leave it installed all season) for maintenance. It's truly a game-changer.

Frustrated that you can't see the details? That's because there are still changes that need to be incorporated into the final product. Plus, we gotta build the suspense, right?! :P

Bottom line? This thing works and it works GREAT. It's something that should come pre-installed on the Ural fairing from IMZ. I'm sure more people would buy the fairing if they knew they could just 'pop' it on and off with no tools and minimal effort. When this becomes available, I plan to purchase one for each of my other two fairings.

I am going to adjust a couple of the bends in the tubing and change some of the fasteners. We did learn a lot with the install on Tomcatfixer’s bike. I think a better assembly fixture and the previously mentioned changes have a good chance of making the windshield mount ready for production.

Got the bike back a week ago, installed the OEM fairing earlier this week for the 1st time. Boy that's a PITA, especially when you have brand new headlight ears that you don't want to scratch up! I'm liking the wind protection but miss my old windscreen for the east of on/off. Any updates on offering your brackets for sale?

I've seen the beta configuration on the fairing of Chad's Chernobyl, in person. I know good engineering when I see it...and it's certainly evident here. Burt's QD hardware will be worth the price of admission.

I’m going to be working on (hopefully completing) the upgraded assembly fixture tomorrow. If everything goes well I may get some brackets bent and welded too. I’m going have a local shop quote powder coating, black and “chrome” to match original hardware.

It’s looking like the price point will be around $100.
