What is the thing with yellow/blue lights? (Yellow Arrow)

What kind of muffler did you use?

Can you do better still photos of brackets mounting the pipe and muffler?

Curious
YMMV

The thing with the lights is a Dobeck unit

The muffler is from a Heritage Soft tail Harley

I'll post some shots of the mounting points soon....yet to make the bracket that holds the muffler

Thanks Mike....I was a bit concerned it was going to be overly loud.....but after a 40 mile ride today I was quite happy with the sound. If one likes to travel on bikes any distance....the quieter the better

You mean that the Harley Noise does not come with the muffler? :sarcasm:  I think I have the same muffler, only in black. Actually I have 4 different sets (of 2), but I do not know what kind of HD they came off of. All are new throw-aways by knowledgeable HD owners....

I removed the air restrictor seal on my Victory to get a few more HP. Then I rode back to Spirit Lake IA. Unfortunate for me, I did not take the seal with me! I was sick and tired of the added noise within 100 miles of a 3500 mile trip. When I got back home I put back in. Whew!, quiet again.

How did you bend the pipe so that there were no wrinkles in it? Where did you find stainless pipe? How did you connect the different diameters together? HD to pipe to Ural? Connection part? Curious.

YMMV

Nice work on the exhaust.

For anyone that cares to know, all modern H-D factory mufflers that I've seen, have the motorcycle model number stamped into the muffler (as in XLCH, FRXS, etc.), you can almost see it in one of the above photos.

Didn't have to bend the tube....the entire system was made from tube and weld type fittings for food grade applications. It was constructed from scrap pieces from work I'm doing where I work. The only diameter change that had to happen was from the 1 1/2 inch that fits over the Ural headers to the 2 inch which is the size of the HD muffler. The connection point is made by two 2 inch sanitary fittings and the clamp (see photo)I made it that way so I can drop the muffler off to change the tire if needed.

You're welcome.
I didn't know that some have built in cats either, are they marked as such? I wouldn't want to tarnish my reputation as a scofflaw!

What makes those pipe fittings sanitary? I've heard that term, is it just the stainless steel, the lack of nooks and crannies inside, or something else?

Yes there is a stamp that says USA Catalyst on it. Also a warning not to use it on non approved motorcycles...fed codes and such....since it a Ural....we're good to go  The fitting is called that because one can tear it down quickly and clean it....although it is a nicely polished piece of stainless steel. These types of fittings are used in the dairy industry a lot.....one clamps a silicone seal in between the faces and bingo!! a leak proof joint.
