Van has the ability to influence markets! They are backordered. Dennis Kirk probably wonders why the run on these tubes-

Van - Ok, wise guy. Now you want to do a video on how to mount these damn things? I have no doubt that the Michelin inner tube is going to last through three or four tires. It is like mounting a tire-within-a-tire. They are about 4x thicker than a normal inner tube, but that means that they are about 4x stiffer.

I had a hell of a time wrestling these into a tire on a rim. You have any secret mojo on how to do this?

Yeah, that settles it. I'm bringing my tires up to you next time I need to do this. That tire bead prybar and valve stem threader are the real tricks. Tire came off and went on (one side) fine, it was just trying to stuff that thick tube in there that got me more than cussing.

Van did you make that rack and pinion tool and the lever tool or are they fancy store-bought items? I need to make that lever tool. Thought about making the rack and pinion tool. Need to find a rack and pinion from something the right size.

Snakeoil wrote:I put these in the new tires on my R100/7 and I think I put them in the Ural, too. Somebody, and it may have been here, said that these are intended for moto-x bikes and not street bikes. Something about the higher temps seen by street bike tires.
It is a trade off. The heat is generated when the rubber flexes when the contact patch ellipse is formed. Thin tubes would dissipate that heat much faster than one that is thicker. Motor x bikes want the toughness so a pinched tube doesn't tear. Extra heat not an issue as speeds (and heat by extention)is less.

After I replaced a 'Shina and then some other non-HD brand, neither of which held air, I went to Michelin HD and never looked back.

The going rate seems to be about $26-28 a pop right now, with most of the big online shops offering free shipping over $99.
I will keep the UHD's in mind as an add-on item the next time I'm ordering something.

Van, or anyone who has installed these, can you please tell us the correct order of the two nuts and washer when installing? I am in the middle of changing my tire and tube and this threw me off.

Yeah...I have had the heavy duty tube (moose brand) in the pusher for a few years now. Haven't encountered a problem as of yet. Yes...my concern was heat cuz I ride the interstate but at Ural speed of 55-57 mph, I don't think it's fast enough to generate damamging heat, IMO. My longest day on the saddle is about 250 miles or about 4-5 hrs with some stops...I'm retired & not is a hurry to get anywhere fast, never been & never will be. :P

Thanks for the heads up
I just fitted one of these UHD tubes into a k28, they are by far the best quality inner tubes I've ever seen, quite heavy but I think worth the extra cash.
