Instant power gains!

Post by Tomcatfixer » Fri Feb 24, 2017 6:23 pm

I wanted to get more horsepower out of my Ural's engine, so I painted the valve covers wrinkle red. That's how it works, right? I figure, it's gotta be worth at least 5hp. ...per valve cover.

I like the painted valve cover idea......however I do have to point out a very glaring error in choice of colors. Everyone knows that if you want your Ural to go faster, Blue is the correct color!..........

True, but I always assumed that was from aerodynamic reasons!

I perceive a fondness to red.
VHT puts out a great project. Did my entire exhaust system last June. Not a scratch or chip on it. Big mistake most folks make is the do not go thru the curing process. Your valve cover project came out great.

See, Len, I keep telling people that and no one believes me. Now, THIS will show 'em all! :D
I perceive a fondness to red.
Meh. I just saw some red valve covers on a Moto Guzzi MGX-21 Flying Fortress and wanted to emulate the look; try it on for size. Now that I see the red parts on my "yorange" bike, it makes me feel like I'm advertising for McDonald's.
Your valve cover project came out great.
Thank you. While I'm pleased with the quality, I'm not so certain that 'red' is the Mobile Chernobyl's color. Perhaps I'll trade someone these for some shiny covers and do it again in wrinkle black. We'll see...

You should paint the entire rig, that way you won't get detected on radar :foilhead:

Yeah, but, if the F-177 Nighthawk is any indication, then I'd have to paint it black, like the Rolling Stones.

An interesting observation. And what does this ink blot look like, to you?

I wish I could claim that the similarity was intentional, but it is purely coincidental.

"I'll have to ask WEGUNTER how effective the Raven is with regards to minimizing RADAR return"

It seems in the final version, IMWA removed to tool box from the tank to decrease wind resistence.
95% of all Urals built in the last ten years are still on the road....The other 5% made it home.
