With 1wd suicide is no problem but I'm in & out of 2wd regularly. I'll get more beer and contemplate.

GOOD PLAN - there is resale to consider. I was temped to grind off the rear prong on the nasty painted steel shift pedal on my 94, but since it was pretty much out of the way I left it alone. I still use the front pad on my 02 for up & sown shifting - even though some say it is bad - Never had a problem yet.
Words to live by: "Cutting something off - is completely FINAL".

I wear size 15 Bogs when I ride off-road, using a Raceway foot box which forces my foot higher than on a stock peg and while it's a tight fit up under the carb, I can still tap the toe shifter down without issues. For upshifts I use the heel stomp method.

I see no need to modify anything.
