Foot operated clutch

Post by Ian T » Wed Oct 21, 2020 3:04 am

Hi

I’ve seen them but I can’t seem to find any details.

Has anyone fitted a foot operated clutch to their bike or outfit.

Cheers

Ian

The Dnepr semi-automatic transmission, or "Dnepermatic", has a foot operated clutch. It is a cam on the foot shifter that operates a rod through a linkage that disengages the clutch as you shift gears.

On my Dnepr MT-16, I only use the hand clutch when starting from a stop, the rest of the time I just shift with the gear selector.

You can clutchless shift a Ural also. Only need clutch for 1st and reverse. But if you’re missing or have a knackered left upper appendage...you’ll need a foot operated clutch...but I am not aware of a commercially available one. I’ve seen custom jobs in the past.

Ian T,
I couldn't find any for a Ural. Maybe call Gene at Holopaw Ural. (407) 892-1901

Here is one for a Harley to give you some ideas.

Then you need a Hand Shifter for Forward & Reverse

There are videos on Youtube for Harleys and Hondas to give you ideas.

Cheers Guys

Very helpful information, much appreciated.

I understand the Dnepr gearbox now and already have one in my pile of collected bits.

It is the first and reverse I am getting to grips with. I have a Ural Dalesman outfit and love it, had it for over 10 years, but I rather fancy a solo so I am collecting bits to make one, and the semi box is a must I believe.

The idea of the foot clutch was to accompany a hand change lever, those videos are priceless than you Bar None.

I think it would be a system similar to those used on Harley Davidsons they seem in abundance in the USA but try and find one in the UK.

So thanks again for your kind and helpful advice and I’ll keep looking

Cheers

Ian

Since you are in the UK, have a chat with http://www.nabd.org.uk/#:~:text=Nationa ... er%20cause. If they can't help you, nobody can.
