I take it you don't live anywhere it rains often? Mine fill with water very rapidly when it rains and the water sloshes down the tank into my trouser crutch when I set off. Now ride with the box empty apart from a plastic egg cup for bailing

Ditto here. Haven't found a way to keep rain water out of the toolbox. I tried to line it with weather stripping and keep it locked, nothing helps.

Haven't found a way to keep rain water out of the toolbox.
I devised a reasonably effective solution for the Mobile Chernobyl: I coated the "lip" of the toolbox's storage "bowl" with w.a.x, then applied black room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) rubber around the inner edge of the door, then closed the door over the w.a.x-covered lip. I left this to cure overnight. The w.a.x prevented the rubber from adhering to the bowl's lip.

In a good downpour a bit of water will still find it's way into the toolbox, but nothing like before. Also, the toolbox now closes with a satisfying cushioned "whump", like a small car door.

Great hack!

The pistol pic was a lark. I'd never keep it there because I'm pretty sure that lock could be defeated with a screwdriver and a desire. :)

I was thinking of doing exactly this with some thick gasket material as soon as I heard people talking about the box flooding. For now, I just have insurance papers and a couple things in a zip lock baggie.

I have the perfect size Flask that will fit inside - along with a Makarov. But probably a good thing I don't have a tool box tank to get me in trouble.

I tried the rubberized foam gasket route, and it helped a little but the trick was getting around the hinges. The RTV tek should help with that problem.

My Gear-Up lives outside so solving this would be good.

I suspect that some water trickles in through the lock, but I haven't yet developed a means to combat this.

You do know that all toolbox tanks that I have seen are keyed alike. I bought two latches off eBay when I broke one of my keys on my 2013 GU, as no local locksmith had blanks . They were keyed the same as my original. Now I have 5 keys and 3 latches.

Modern firearms have drop safeties, so not an issue. Or you could carry with an empty chamber.

Do like the idea of a Makarov in the toolbox for Russian style points.
