This was pretty cool in the Erickson Museum in Madras I thought it would be a hit here.

Yep, we see a lot of them on here...usually because someone has posted to Craigslist selling as an "authentic" 1942 WWII German/Russian motorcycle.
They are almost always rattle canned grey if "German" or green if "Russian" with obligatory red star somewhere.
As with your example above, paint is usually as indiscriminately applied where every inch is painted it's "authentic' color.
For example, seat springs or ignition coils OD green.

Nobody likes having a powder blue, red or turquoise old beat-up bike, they must be OD green to be really "authentic."
