I had just discovered Urals having seen an olive drab '04 Patrol for sale. Wanting more information I found this site. Hmm, Soviet something or another? I dunno about that. I'll open a Yahoo email account, join using that email address, ask some questions and delete my account if they turn out to be crazy commies. I didn't want to use my name or any traceable info so I let Yahoo give me suggestions and I picked one, added 59 to the end of it (my birth year) and wrote it down.

Yup, that's how I got niteblues. Yahoo picked it randomly.

Of course, after joining I found the site super friendly and full of good information. Good people too. Recycled came out to my house and introduced himself to me and helped me sort out a great many things. The people I have come to know from the CRAP rally, Jersey Devil Hunt and many other gatherings has enriched my life more than I ever expected.

If you remember the IMWA board, you are a Ural oldtimer... :old:

Yeah, it went the way of the do-do bird many years ago, IMWA is more into Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram now.

I'm surprised Steed has lasted a decade with all of the advances in communication and social media, although we have branched out on Facebook with over 3,000 members joining up there.
I started out on the old IMWA board. Shortly after joined Russian Iron. Then hopped onto Soviet Steeds when it was only two days old.
I started out on the old CMSI motherboard. Then I joined Wagner's Yahoo group, until I got barred from it. At least John has not kicked me off of here yet. :boogie:

Saw an ad for Urals in Cycle World back in the summer of 2010. Looked interesting, found this site right after I bought my rig, can't believe how time has flown by. The Patrol & I are still kickin' and this site has been invaluable in keepin' it going. I was glad to find this place and to know that I wasn't the only nutcase to buy one of these crazy contraptions.

The old Motherboard, ah, I still flinch when I think about it. Joined maybe a year or two before I bought my Tourist in '04 as well as joining Russian Iron. Owning the Ural has been a 95% positive experience and being on Soviet Steeds has been even more enjoyable.

TCF...that's too much to ask the "old-timers". No secret about the mother board & Russian Iron, but the memory recall is an issue. :? It'll be so convoluted by the time we get to it...recall failure  :P Of course some of the old farts may remember but I can't.

Okay. I guess I can see why you guys are nostalgic about the motherboard. That login page is ancient.
