Rode to Walmart looking for a coffee pot but they were out so rode to Target, but they didn't have them so rode to Kohl's and Office Depot who were both also out of them---so rode to a Thai place, had some goi cuon and pad thai then rode home and ordered the damn coffee pot from Amazon.

Meanwhile, the wife-in-the-bucket is collecting clearance sale Christmas decor at ever stop so by the time we got to the Thai place we didn't have room for a coffee pot anyway.

I actually love riding around town on errands with the wife now. Who needs marriage counseling?

Went for a short ride Saturday afternoon. Visited Turkey Creek Nature Preserve followed by a stop at Higginbotham's Lake. Temperature was good, low 50's, but it was very windy.

Still scoping out the new locale. Today, I rode into town to check out the local coffee shop/bakery. I didn’t need anymore coffee so I grabbed a couple cinnamon scones for the missus and me. Then rode home.

Weekend looks interesting with a winter storm warning.

Nadia: Its anywhere form -5 to -15 and I am shelter in place. Pickup battery decided it was no longer playing and I replaced that at -10, fun, at least good access. Happy truck now.

One of our deepest and longest cold spells in a long time. A few days or a week is ok, but this is just too much.

Slowly building confidence and loving life in the slow lane! I rode into San Antonio for a meeting near 281 @ Loop 1604 (major interchange). Stuck to the access roads and had a fairly pleasant ride in moderate to heavy traffic with top speeds around 65 ish---but just short bursts.

I don't think my steering damper is doing a damn thing. It seems to make no difference one way or the other so I'm thinking maybe it's broken, but then I have no idea how it should work, or what it would feel like if it did.

Appendix: the early hydraulic ones had a tendency to pack up, spring a fluid leak, my one failed on the dealer's floor! Bike hadn't been used yet :o

Uh, damping steering? :)

That's just it though, mine does not seem to do diddly squat regardless of position. Having no experience with them, I have no idea if I sold be able to detect anything. I really suspect mine has failed because I did some hard accelerations and decelerations with it one stop from either end and Lexi behaved just as weirdly in one position as the other.

OK, which means what? :D

With a sidecsr outfit you can often get a bit of front wheel wobble, that is handlebars shake (side to side) at slow speed, typically around 20 mph. The damper stops the shake. That's all it's supposed to do. You might be expecting more from it however. :D

Normally you wouldn't feel it doing anything, no. But you would notice the front wheel shake!

Right, I guess from the description in the manual I just expected it to be stiff or lose. That is, when set at the highest, it would add SOME detectable level of resistance to a sudden effort to turn the bars---which is exactly what I'm NOT feeling. I guess since I'm also feeling zero front wheel wobble, I'll assume it's working and leave it alone.

I've had a few tank slappers on dirt bikes at high speeds and that is a real pucker check. I got the impression that the damper was to stop that sort of nightmare. I hope never to feel anything like that on my Ural. :)

Rode to Randys’ in Marengo, IL today. Absolutely crappy weather, which made for a great ride.

Except for the FedEx truck going the other way. That was like getting smacked by hundreds of slush balls at once.

Another grocery run this morning, and another full cart swallowed up by the sidecar and trunk with room to spare. Also stopped and picked up 5 qts of oil, still had room left!

Well, I blinked and she had been sitting for 3 months! I decided that with temps in the 40's, it was time to give her a go. Enjoyed a nice ride to work and back home last week. :D
